[Using `go fix` to Modernize Go Code](https://go.dev/blog/gofix) — Go 1.26 ships a rewritten `go fix` that automatically modernizes code to use newer idioms using [24 built-in 'modernizers'](https://pkg.go.dev/golang.org/x/tools/go/analysis/passes/modernize): replacing `interface{}` with `any`, adopting `strings.Cut`, and so on. Alan goes into depth about how it works and what's coming next, including a self-service approach for defining your own modernizations.

[Add GitHub, Slack & Google Integrations Without Rebuilding OAuth](https://workos.com/docs/pipes?utm_source=cpgo&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=q12026&utm_content=no_rebuild) — WorkOS Pipes handles OAuth flows, token storage, and refresh logic across multiple providers. Users connect via a widget, and your app makes one API call to get a valid token. It’s a faster way to ship third-party integrations.

🤖 [What Should the Go Team Do with AI-Generated Contributions?](https://groups.google.com/g/golang-dev/c/4Li4Ovd_ehE/m/UU87HnL5DgAJ) — A discussion on `golang-dev` begun by Ian Lance Taylor when he noticed Claude as a co-author on a contribution. Responses from numerous Go heavyweights followed, including [extensive thoughts from Russ Cox.](https://groups.google.com/g/golang-dev/c/4Li4Ovd_ehE/m/8L9s_jq4BAAJ) Legal and licensing issues dominated the back and forth.

**IN BRIEF:**

- The discussion around [the proposal to add generic methods to Go](https://github.com/golang/go/issues/77273) has been long and thorough, but the proposal is now [marked as 'likely accept'](https://github.com/golang/go/issues/77273#issuecomment-3886683084) and has entered the _'final comment'_stage.
- The creator of a Node.js _reverse shell_ tool ported it to Go and has [shared benchmarks comparing the two versions.](https://github.com/lukechilds/reverse-shell/pull/38) Go didn't lead in every metric, but was way out in front when it did.
- There are fewer than two weeks to [submit a proposal to GopherCon 2026](https://sessionize.com/gophercon-2026/) (closes March 4). Lightning talks will be accepted from June 1.

[Proposal: Change Go 1.26's `go mod init`'s Default Back to the Current Go Version?](https://github.com/golang/go/issues/77653) — New Go releases rarely contain unpleasant surprises, but some people aren't fans of Go 1.26's change to `go mod init` defaulting to a lower Go version in new `go.mod` files.

🔎 [Inspecting the Source of Go Modules](https://words.filippo.io/go-source/) — The [Go checksum database](https://go.googlesource.com/proposal/+/master/design/25530-sumdb.md) provides guarantees when you fetch _through the toolchain_, but browsing source elsewhere (on GitHub, or from a link on the Go package site, say) bypasses this. Filippo shows off [his new Go modules source viewer site](https://pkg.geomys.dev/) which provides an interface to view module sources _directly_ from the Go modules mirror.
