Amazon CloudWatch Agent is now Open Source and included with Amazon Linux 2
Amazon CloudWatch Agent is now Open Source and included with Amazon Linux 2 (AL2). AL2 users can install the CloudWatch Agent using the yum package manager. You can also access the CloudWatch Agent source code and contribute to its development in GitHub.
CloudWatch Agent enables operators to collect metrics and logs from Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), hybrid, and on premises servers. Including CloudWatch Agent with AL2 helps reduce the number of steps required to install the agent on your Linux hosts. Open source also provides greater visibility into the agent's design and implementation. Developers can contribute to the development of CloudWatch Agent by making suggestions, reporting issues, and submitting pull requests.
Amazon CloudWatch, CloudWatch Agent, and Amazon Linux 2 (AL2) are available in all public AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US).
